Agoura Hills and Westlake Village
Patients from Agoura Hills (about 8 miles) and Westlake Village (about 10 miles) reach the West Hills office along the Ventura Freeway (US-101). The practice is limited to sleep-related breathing disorders, TMJ/TMD and orofacial pain.
Care is provided by Dr. Mohammad Masudian, DDS, MPH, a Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine who completed a CODA-accredited certificate program in orofacial pain at the University of Southern California.
When CPAP is not working
Many adults with obstructive sleep apnea stop using CPAP because of mask discomfort, air pressure or noise. An oral appliance is an established alternative for appropriate patients. The evaluation reviews your sleep study, jaw joints and teeth to confirm you are a candidate before an appliance is made.
What we see
Sleep apnea and snoring
Custom oral appliances for adults diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, including patients who cannot tolerate CPAP. See oral appliance therapy.
TMJ and TMD pain
Jaw pain, clicking, catching, locking and limited opening, managed conservatively first. See TMJ disorders.
Facial and nerve pain
Burning, electric or shooting facial pain, including trigeminal neuralgia. See neuropathic facial pain.
Common Questions
Is an oral appliance as effective as CPAP?
CPAP usually lowers the apnea index more, but many people use an oral appliance more consistently. Your physician and the practice decide together, based on your sleep study.
Does jaw pain always need treatment?
Not always. Many jaw symptoms settle on their own. Pain that persists, interferes with eating or sleep, or comes with locking should be evaluated.
