Sleep Apnea and TMJ Care for Sherman Oaks and Encino

Sherman Oaks and Encino

Patients from Sherman Oaks and Encino are seen at the practice’s West Hills office, about 8 miles from Encino and 11 miles from Sherman Oaks along the Ventura Freeway (US-101) corridor. The practice is limited to sleep-related breathing disorders, TMJ/TMD and orofacial pain.

Care is provided by Dr. Mohammad Masudian, DDS, MPH, a Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine who completed a CODA-accredited certificate program in orofacial pain at the University of Southern California.

Snoring, sleep apnea and CPAP problems

Many patients arrive after a home sleep test ordered by their physician, or after struggling with a CPAP mask. A custom oral appliance is an alternative for adults with a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, and an option for disruptive snoring once apnea has been ruled out. Fitting takes several short adjustment visits, and the result is confirmed with follow-up testing through your physician.

Common Questions

Do I need a sleep study first?

Yes, for sleep apnea. A physician must diagnose obstructive sleep apnea before an oral appliance is made. If you have not had a study, the practice can coordinate with your physician.

Can jaw pain and sleep apnea be related?

They often occur together, and clenching or grinding during sleep can contribute to morning jaw soreness. The evaluation looks at both, so treatment for one does not worsen the other.
